SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT OVERVIEW
I pontificate often about creating quality content. Why is it so important? That’s an easy answer: Because Google says it is. Whether you love Google or hate Google, they’re the primary search engine in the world and Google sends you more traffic than other sources. You don’t get site traffic just for existing. You get traffic by producing high-quality content.
Quality content is just as important in social media.
Every interaction you have with a customer increases that person’s affinity for your brand – or reduces it. What you post counts. In fact, your social media success is mitigated every time you post something mediocre – or worse. Your presence (or absence) on social media is the quickest, easiest way for anyone around the world to figure out who you are and what you’re about.
Quality always trumps quantity.
Think of it this way: do you want 1,000 people who read, share and talk about your content with their own audiences, or 10,000 people who disappear right after they connect with you? Pick the first one. Quantity is simply flooding your social media feed, but too much might infuriate them. Seeing something frequently may make it stick in people’s minds, but the quality of your content is what will make them remember you.
Nothing dies on the Internet!
Quality content builds a following of people who will talk about you and share your posts, so, create your content with intent. I’ve heard a lot of people say, “It’s just a social media post” (in other words, the post content isn’t worthy of their time).
Let me remind you: what you post online stays forever. Reread your posts, pay attention to grammar, make sure everything is where it needs to be, and invest time in your interactions. If you’re posting content from another source (and you should be) be a thought-leading aggregator. Earn the trust of your followers by keeping close tabs on everything you post, even when you’re re-posting.
